And justifying one form of slaughter for the does not get us anywhere. it's the conditions that these dogs are housed, carted and killed that is bringing me to my knees. As a dog lover and owner myself, it makes no difference to me if a dog is being mistreated in Winnipeg or half a world away. Abuse and torture is abuse and torture. The Swiss are up in arms because China is importing Saint Bernard dogs as fast as they can, for farming and slaughter for human consumption. Although there is no doubt in my mind, that abuse and suffering does occur in the mainstream factory farming methods we use in the civilized world, that does not mean that the dog meat trade should be excused. As the saying goes "Two wrongs, don't make a right".
