Hazel, have you seen any of the information that's on the internet? just google China dog meat trade, or Phillipine dog meat trade or just google Dog Meat trade and be prepared to be shocked. ...Dogs are inherently emotional and friendly to humanity ... the slaughter of a dog for food is excessively cruel. And justifying one form of slaughter for the does not get us anywhere.
it's the conditions that these dogs are housed, carted and killed that is bringing me to my knees.

As a dog lover and owner myself, it makes no difference to me if a dog is being mistreated in Winnipeg or half a world away. Abuse and torture is abuse and torture.

The Swiss are up in arms because China is importing Saint Bernard dogs as fast as they can, for farming and slaughter for human consumption. Although there is no doubt in my mind, that abuse and suffering does occur in the mainstream factory farming methods we use in the civilized world, that does not mean that the dog meat trade should be excused. As the saying goes "Two wrongs, don't make a right".

"EXPOSED: THE BRUTAL REALITY OF CHINA’S DOG MEAT TRADE" - a little over the top perhaps? You're killing animals, it would be hard to be anything but brutal.

If you read about current methods for slaughtering cows and chickens, you wont find them any more humane than what was listed above.

But hey, dogs are cute and noble so lets continue to portray Asians as savages instead of focusing on the practices in our own countries.

I don't care what your opinion on animal treatment is, just stop being so reactionist and think about what is going on.
